The California Veterinary Clinic (CVC) opened on July 5, 1979 in California, Missouri, by Dr. Roger Borgmeyer and his wife Peggy, who owned and operated the business until December 2020. Dr. Mark Oerly joined the staff in 1988 after he graduated from the University of Missouri School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Oerly purchased the clinic in January of 2021.
Dr. Kaitlyn Mouse joined the clinic in 2019 and Dr. Matt Oerly joined the clinic in 2022. Both graduated from the University of Missouri School of Veterinary Medicine. Together the Doctors offer over 38 years of experience along with 80+ years of experience between the 5 full-time and part-time staff.
At the California Veterinary Clinic our team is dedicated to the health and well-being of your pets. We offer a full range of services that include examinations, vaccinations, routine and advanced surgical procedures, diagnostic workups, nutritional guidance, and a wide variety of healthcare consultations.
In addition to small animals, the California Veterinary Clinic offers large animal veterinary services that include cattle, horses, small ruminants, and swine. The clinic offers on-site farm calls as well as convenient livestock haul-in facilities. Services include herd work, preventative medicine, and reproductive, nutrition, and diagnostic consultations.
Doctors Mark and Matt Oerly and Kaitlyn Mouse, and the highly experienced, friendly staff, are dedicated to providing high quality, individualized and compassionate care for their patients and to building strong, lifelong relationships with clients through education, communication and a commitment to serve the community and their veterinary needs.
Mark was born and raised in the Jamestown area. Mark graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988 and has practiced at the California Veterinary Clinic since graduation. He works on both large and small animals but is especially interested in bovine reproduction. In January 2021 he and his wife, Marcy, purchased the clinic from Roger and Peggy Borgmeyer. Mark and Marcy have two children, Rachel (husband Nathan) and Matt (fiancée Halle). Mark spends much of his free time working on the family farm.
Kaitlyn Mouse is from Franklin, Texas, a small town just north of College Station, Texas. In 2015, she graduated from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas with a BA in Biology. She then graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2019. While she works with all animals, her true love is working with small animals. Kaitlyn lives with her husband, Austin Mouse, as well as son Keil, in California, MO. They have both dogs and cats. In Kaitlyn’s free time, she enjoys watching the Kansas City Chiefs, Missouri Tigers, and St. Louis Cardinal’s with her husband. She enjoys being outside and taking care of her house full of pets as well as chasing around her son.
Matt graduated from California High School in 2015, where he was involved in football, music and FFA. Matt received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science from the University of Missouri in 2019 and graduated from the University of Missouri School of Veterinary Medicine in the Spring of 2022. Matt has worked at the California Veterinary Clinic since he was 16 years old. He enjoys working with cattle on the family farm and hanging out with his wife Halle Oliver.
Jo Pettigrew grew up in the Tipton area and resides in California, MO. Jo started at the California Veterinary Clinic in 1995, where she assists in small animal surgery and exam room procedures as well as processing cattle and equine services. Jo has three children, Mindy & her husband Brandon along with her (granddaughter Aubree), John and his fiancée Jess, and Sydney Grace. Jo also has 2 cats (Theodore & Jasper) and 1 dog (Kasey). In her free time, Jo enjoys motorcycle riding and spending time with family and friends
Born in Fallbrook, California, Erin moved to Missouri and joined the CVC in 2004. She assists in small animal exam and surgery as well as processing cattle and equine services. Erin has many years experience working with horses in California and Colorado, and has six horses and four dogs of her own. Erin and her husband, Rick, have a daughter, Maddie Jo. During her free time, Erin enjoys team roping and fishing.
Elizabeth Limbach was born and raised in Jefferson City, Missouri. She has always loved animals, just one of the reasons she joined the CVC in 2006. She currently lives in California, Missouri with her boyfriend, Travis. When not at work she loves to fish, camp and spend time with family and friends.
Kimberly grew up in the Syracuse area and graduated from Tipton high school in 2012. Kim then attended and graduated from State Fair Community College with an associate in Agriculture and Ag Business in 2017. Kim now resides with her husband, P.J. Hanauer, in California, MO. They have one dog named Riley Ray and two cats Emma and Milo, along with chickens and their small cattle farm. When not working at CVC, you’ll usually find Kim working on their small farm or on her and her sisters’ online clothing boutique. She also enjoys working out, side by side riding, and spending time with her family and friends.
Gina was raised on a crop/livestock farm in Northeast Missouri. From a child, she always loved to be outside with animals. If her parents couldn’t find her, they knew to look around the animals first. She has a love for agriculture and the outdoors and keeps it alive on their ranch raising Registered Limousin cattle. She is married to Bruce and they have two sons, Jake and Seth.
Gina joined the team at CVC in 2009. You will see Gina assisting the doctors wherever needed in the clinic; from large animal processing, to assisting with routine small animal vaccinations and helping clients.
When not at CVC, you will find Gina outdoors working on their cattle ranch, or riding her paint horses, hunting, fishing, spending time with family, friends, and God or riding around in whatever old hot rod Bruce is working on at the time.
